CARRBORO
  • Copper tubing valued at $800 was reported stolen Friday from four air-conditioning units outside a business on the 200 block of Barnes Street. Copper tubing was also reported missing from an air conditioner at Carolina Apartments.
  • DVDs and a rifle, valued in total at $4,350, were reported stolen Friday from a home on the 300 block of Smith Street.
  • A laptop computer valued at $800 was reported stolen Friday from a shopping cart in a Food Lion on the 100 block of N.C. 54. According to a police report, a man in the store left his company laptop in a shopping cart.
  • Evan James Munn, 17, of 694 Sugarlake Road, Pittsboro; Andrei Carroll Morris, 19, of 2012, Southlake Shore Drive, Chapel Hill; and Jesse Shealy Green, 18, of 643 Spindlewood, Pittsboro, were arrested Saturday and charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and underage possession of malt beverages. According to a police report, officers stopped and searched a car and found approximately 1.05 lbs. of marijuana and two small plastic bags of cocaine. Munn also was charged with possession of a handgun by a minor. He was released to his parents, and Morris and Green were held in Orange County jail, each in lieu of $3,000 bail.
  • Gasoline was reported stolen Saturday by Spinx Oil Company on the 200 block of West Main Street. According to a police report, a woman drove off without paying $39.52 for gas.
  • Leicar Strada Mendez, 39, of 100 Chase St., Chapel Hill, was arrested Sunday and charged with driving while impaired. His blood-alcohol level was not included in the arrest report. He was held in Orange County jail in lieu of $500 bail.
  • An identity-theft scam was reported Sunday by a resident of Carrboro. According to a police report, someone contacted a woman and told her she was eligible for health-care benefits. She gave out her Social Security number, but later could not find the company on the Internet and found the number given to her to call was not in service. Police advised the woman to contact the Social Security administration and three major credit card bureaus.
  • A 1999 Silver Honda Accord was reported stolen from a driveway on the 200 block of Old Fayetteville Road. The license plate from the stolen car was later found attached to another similar-looking vehicle.
  • Christopher Ray McBride, 26, of 605 Oak Ave., was arrested Monday and charged with driving while impaired. According to a police report, his blood-alcohol level was 0.14. The state standard for impairment is 0.08. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.


CHAPEL HILL
  • Four vehicles break-ins have been reported in the last four days. The break-ins were reported on the 100 block of Nolen Lane, the 100 block of Cameron Avenue, and the 300 block of Pittsboro Street (two reports).
  • House break-ins were reported on the 200 block of Carver Street, the 600 block of Gomains Avenue, and the 700 block of Greenwood Road.
  • Police and ALE officers arrested and cited seven people for underage possession of alcohol last weekend and gave four citations for open-container violations.
  • Brian Austin Dillard, 19, of 138 Creekview Drive, Liberty, S.C., was arrested Saturday and charged with resisting arrest. According to a police report, he resisted an ALE officer.
  • Patrick John Martilik, 33, of 113 Farr Court, Garner, was arrested Sunday and charged with driving while impaired and hit and run. According to a police report, he struck a parked car on Rosemary Street and left the scene. His blood-alcohol level was 0.20. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.
  • Kumar Louis Warren, 18, of 510 Craig St., was arrested Saturday and charged with aiding and abetting a breaking and entering. He was held in Orange County jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
  • Terron Latif Melville, 25, of 3260 Graham Road, Pittsboro, was arrested Saturday and charged with felony breaking and entering. He was held in Orange County jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
