- Orlando Matehuala Ramirez, 29, of 501 Jones Ferry Road I-9, was arrested Friday near his home and charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine. Ramirez was held in the Orange County jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
- Police were contacted Friday after a woman reportedly locked her 2-year-old in her truck by mistake. An officer gained entry to the vehicle, and the child was checked out by EMS.
- An employee at Southern Rail Restaurant reported Friday that she watched a woman in a gray Honda Civic back into the fence in front of the store, get out and observe the damage and then drive off. The employee saw that it was a New York state license plate and reported the license number to police, who were unable to locate a suspect.
- A 20-year-old man reported that he was robbed at gunpoint Friday at Abbey Court apartments. According to a police report, five men surrounded the man, one with a revolver and another with a semi-automatic pistol, and took his wallet and cell phone.
- Mary Elizabeth Stanford, 48, of 1301 Mason Farm Road, was arrested Saturday on Jones Ferry Road and charged with driving while impaired. According to a police report, Stanford's blood-alcohol level was 0.19. The state standard for impairment is 0.08. She was released on a written promise to appear in court.
- Candido Macias Vasquez, 36, of 501 Jones Ferry Road C-5, was arrested Saturday near his home and charged with driving while impaired. According to a police report, Vasquez's blood-alcohol level was 0.16. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.
- A home break-in was reported Monday on Weatherhill Point, and a vehicle break-in was reported Saturday on Jones Ferry Road.
CHAPEL HILL
- Adrian Galaena, 21, of 1105 N.C. 54 L3, was arrested Saturday morning and charged with driving while impaired and not carrying a driver's license. According to a police report, Galeana's blood-alcohol level was 0.13. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.
- According to a police report, a Wildwood Drive resident "found an old smoke grenade in (the) house and turned it over to police" on Saturday. In addition to a green smoke grenade, Chapel Hill police also seized 15 12-guage shotgun shells, six 16-guage shotgun shells, seven .22 long rifle rounds, rifle cartridges, .45 automatic rounds, firecrackers and even 11 .22 blanks.
- A strong-arm robbery was reported on South Estes Drive Sunday. According to a police report, the victim reported that someone grabbed her neck from behind and stole her purse.
- A pair of home break-ins at Shady Lawn Road Extension were reported Monday. According to a police report, there was significant damage done to each of the homes' door frames due to forceful entry, but the only items reported stolen were frozen chicken patties, a 12-pack of juice, $5 in change, $20 in quarters and other small food items.
- Molly Patricia Lipp, 24, of 1501 Glendale Ave., Durham, was arrested Tuesday morning on East Franklin Street and charged with driving while impaired and speeding. According to a police report, Lipp's blood-alcohol level was 0.17. She was released on a written promise to appear in court.
- Residential break-ins were reported from Friday to Tuesday at Elderberry Drive and Englewood Road.
- Vehicle break-ins were reported at the N.C. 54 park-and-ride lot, at Homestead Park, on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and on Erwin Road.
