HILLSBOROUGH -- The Hillsborough Tourism Board is seeking proposals for the development of a tourism Web site.

"Thousands of visitors annually visit multiple Web sites representing Hillsborough's organizations, businesses and town services," states the board's request for proposals. "Current Web sites are haphazard and uncoordinated. The continued viability of Hillsborough as a tourist destination is dependent on tourists and residents having a site that clearly identifies Hillsborough and attracts the visitor."

Expectations for the tourism Web site include:

• A calendar that provides clear, easily accessible information with an auto-expiration feature of past events.
• A clear map showing destinations and assets.
• A mobile-browsing version.
• An RSS feed, to allow other Web sites to publish calendar contents.
• Basic history regarding Hillsborough.
• Suggested itineraries.
• Information for locals to become tourists in their own town.
• Profiles of the recreation and natural resource opportunities in the area.
• Profiles of local residents and why they have chosen Hillsborough.

Those interested in submitting proposals should send a letter of intent by July 3. Proposals must be received by 3 p.m. July 21.
