- Joshua Edwards, 29, of the streets of Carrboro, was arrested Sunday evening on Greensboro Street and charged with assaulting a public official; resist, delay and obstruct; and trespassing. According to a police report, Edwards drove into Oakwood Apartments, and Carrboro police stopped him since he was previously trespassed from all public housing. While police attempted to search his vehicle, Edwards hit one and fled on foot. He was arrested near the Carrboro Harris Teeter and taken to Orange County Jail in lieu of $1,200 bail.
- Home break-ins were reported over the weekend on Oak Avenue and at Berkshire Manor and University Lake Apartments, which are both located on N.C. 54. One vehicle break-in was reported on Jones Ferry Road, and a license plate was taken off a vehicle parked at Carolina Apartments on N.C. 54.
CHAPEL HILL
- Someone broke into West End Wine Bar on West Franklin Street Thursday night. According to a police report, the perpetrator smashed a door to gain entry and stole $1,000 in cash.
- Eighteen empty beer keg cans were stolen from Brixx Pizza at Meadowmont on Friday. According to a police report, the kegs -- which represent a total value of $150 -- were sitting outside the restaurant before someone managed to haul them all away.
- Alexander Paul Koch, 19, of 205 Bruton Drive, was arrested Saturday morning on Mallette Street and charged with driving while impaired, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license. According to police reports, Koch was involved in a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Mallette and Franklin Streets.
- James Martin Perry Jr., 22, of 454 Peace Haven Drive in Norfolk, Va., was arrested Saturday morning on West Rosemary Street and charged with driving while impaired. According to a police report, Perry crashed his vehicle at the corner of Rosemary and Roberson streets, and was "unable to perform field tests due to his level of intoxication."
- Someone cut the locks of a portable storage trailer on Bolinwood Drive Saturday and stole nearly $9,000 worth of items. Almost everything taken was audio and stage equipment such as digital sound mixers, stage lights and large speakers.
- William Andrew Tucker, 23, of 116-S Shadowood Drive, was arrested Sunday at his home and charged with assault by strangulation. According to a police report, Tucker was arrested after allegedly assaulting his live-in girlfriend, and police seized marijuana and drug paraphernalia when they entered his home. Tucker was held in domestic violence hold in Orange County Jail, where he had to remain for 48 hours before the magistrate could post a bond amount, unless a judge decided to release him early.
- Vehicle break-ins were reported over the weekend on Whitley Drive, at Carol Woods on Weaver Dairy Road and twice on South Estes Drive.
