CARRBORO
• Someone damaged a metal sculpture in front of Carrboro Town Hall on Monday. Officers reported that it appeared to have been pulled down by a chain or pushed over by a heavy object, as it was originally attached to the ground with concrete.
• A car in the parking lot of Cat's Cradle on East Main Street was broken into and the stereo and a power inverter were stolen, the victim reported Monday.
• A Jones Ferry Road resident reported on Tuesday that a man wearing all black walking out of the woods near her residence, startled her and stared at her for 10 seconds before returning to the woods.
• Someone broke into a Hillcrest Avenue residence on Tuesday by kicking in the front door. Nothing was missing but the DVD player had been disconnected.
• Guillermo Ariza Gonzalez, 47, of 501 Jones Ferry Road Unit C2, was arrested Wednesday and charged with peeping into a room occupied by another person, according to a report.
• Carlos Benitez, 36, of 501 Jones Ferry Road Unit Z7, was arrested Wednesday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. According to a police report, Benitez cut a man with a broken bottle during a fight.
• Marquette Charles Costen, 34, of 303 Smith Level Road Unit A34, was arrested Thursday and charged with indecent exposure, according to a report.
• William Evander "Chucky" McCauley Jr., 49, of 207 Barnes St., was arrested Friday and charged with assault on a female and interfering with emergency communications. According to a police report, McCauley was involved in a domestic dispute.
CHAPEL HILL
• Someone stole a laptop from the office of Isis Information Technology on Vilcom Center Drive, an employee reported Monday.
• Four deposit bags containing checks and $1,145.06 cash were stolen from Great Outdoors Provision Company on East Franklin Street on Monday.
• Someone pried open a trailer door and stole numerous tools with a total value of $7,649 from a Dobbins Drive construction site on Monday.
• Alison Keely Horton, 29, of 4800 University Drive in Durham, was arrested Wednesday and charged with fraudulently obtaining property, according to a report.
• Meryl Au Lumang Sese, 29, of 6 Suncrest Court in Durham, was arrested Wednesday and charged with three counts of credit card larceny, common law forgery and identity theft and one count of felony conspiracy, according to a report.
• UNC student Daniel Brattain Paustian, 19 , of 1225 Granville Towers West, was arrested Wednesday and charged with affray and resisting arrest. According to a police report, Paustian was fighting in the parking lot of Granville Towers and ran from the police.
• Madison Cornelius Wright IV, 17, of 113 N. Estes Drive, was arrested Thursday and charged with possession of heroin, according to a report.
• Someone entered the back door of Bailey's Pub and Grill on Fordham Boulevard around 2 a.m. on Thursday, pointed a gun at employees and stole $1,200 cash.
• Police arrested five men on Thursday on Sykes Street on suspicion of felony drug activity, according to a police report. Kumar Louis Warren, 19, of 510 Craig St. Unit B, was charged with possession of schedule II drugs and possession of schedule I drugs. Kelvin Gabriel Broady, 21, of Garysburg, was charged with possession of schedule III drugs, possession of schedule II drugs and possession of schedule I drugs. Martez Davon Riddick, 16, of 4912 Friends School Road in Durham, was charged with possession of schedule II drugs and possession of schedule I drugs. Michael Lewis Patterson Jr., 20, of 3713 Birmi Drive in Durham, was charged with possession of schedule II drugs, possession of schedule I drugs and maintaining a vehicle where drugs are sold. And Thaddeus Jerrod Harris, 24, of 9004 Habitat Circle, was charged with possession of schedule II drugs and possession of schedule I drugs. Details about the confiscated drugs have yet to be released.
• Police arrested and charged five people with driving while impaired in separate incidents this week, according to reports: Adiel Jimenez Esteban, 25, of 501 Jones Ferry Road Unit G4 in Carrboro; Julian Fernando Moreno, 21, of Charlotte; Amber Elizabeth Johnson, 22, of 706 Sykes St. Unit A; Trevor David Youngblood, 25, of 130 Estes Drive Unit F3; and Cynthia Suzanne Burris, 21, of 700 Bolinwood Drive Unit 34A.
• Home break-ins this week:
Someone kicked in the front door and stole 42 jewelry items, a jewelry box and a laptop from a Morgan Creek Road residence. The items had a total value of $9,860. A computer, valued at $1,500 was stolen from an East Franklin Street residence following a break-in. The window of an Umstead Drive residence was broken but nothing was stolen. Someone entered an East Rosemary Street home and discharged a fire extinguisher, but did not steal anything. A home theater system and a Blue Ray disc player were stolen from a Sharon Road residence after someone pried open a sliding glass door. And someone entered a Church Street residence and stole a computer and an iPod.
•Vehicle break-ins:
Someone broke into a car on Eastowne Drive and stole a DVD player and stereo equipment. A camera, $360 in cash, a credit card, a wallet and a food stamp card were stolen from a vehicle on Adelaide Walters Street. Someone broke the window of a car on Europa Drive and stole a GPS unit. Hubcaps were stolen from a vehicle on High School Road. Someone used a brick to break a car window on Fordham Boulevard and steal a GPS unit. Someone pried a hole next to the trunk key cylinder of a car at the Friday Center Park and Ride Lot and stole a stereo, subwoofers, speakers, an amplifier and a radar detector. The items had a total value of $1,360. Rims and tires were stolen from another car at the Friday Center lot.
