Company Carolina's production of "Rent" isn't the only one being staged locally this month.
The East Chapel Hill High School Performing Arts Department will present "Rent, School Edition" Nov. 12-14 at the school's mainstage auditorium.
The cast includes Nick White, Henry Branson. Chloe Akers, Cresser Peele, Jake Garrigus, Alex Vigotov, Camille Johnson and Dylan Smythe.
Jonathan Larson's Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical is a modern-day version of Puccini's "La Boheme."
"Rent" deals with mature themes. For "Rent, School Edition" the material has been modified to render it appropriate for high school-age students to produce and view.
Much mature content remains, and the show is not recommended for younger children.
Reserved seat tickets are $7 in advance, $9 at the door.
Tickets are available at East from 12:30 to 1 p.m. weekdays, by e-mail at
eastreservations@gmail.com, or by phone at 969-2787.
