Restaurants participating in RSVVP Day (Restaurants Sharing V/5 & V/5 Percent) are preparing for the 21st annual event on Tuesday, Nov. 10. This popular fund-raiser invites diners to eat out or take out on one day each year (breakfast, lunch and/or dinner), and 10 percent of their tab is pledged to the hunger-relief programs of the Inter-Faith Council (IFC); the Community Kitchen and the Emergency Food Pantry.
The 2008 event in Chapel Hill-Carrboro had 104 restaurants participating and raised $21,500. The 20-year cumulative total of money raised from this event for the IFC is $329,836.
Loyal support from the sponsors, the participating restaurants, and the dedicated diners; as a three-pronged effort, make this project the perennial success that it is.
The total list of participating restaurants may be found in local newspapers nearer to the event date or go to
www.ifcweb.org and click on the RSVVP logo. Thereis a wide variety of cuisines, price ranges and geographic locations from which to choose.
Thankfully, there is a cure for hunger. Eat out or take out on Tuesday, Nov. 10, and help to feed the hungry in our community.
