- Two bicycles were reported stolen from The Recyclery on Old Pittsboro Road on Saturday.
- Jason Joseph Bowers, 27, of 202 Davie Road A, was arrested Monday on West Main Street and charged with assaulting a female. According to a police report, a woman leaped from Bowers' car when a Carrboro police vehicle neared them. She said that Bowers had hit her face, thrown her to the ground and kicked her when the two were having an argument.
- The woman had bruising and swelling on her temple and redness on the side of her torso, the police report said. Bowers was released from Orange County Jail without bail.
- Juan Carlos Castro, 23, of 404 Jones Ferry Road D11, was arrested Monday morning on North Greensboro Street and charged with driving while impaired. According to a police report, Castro's blood-alcohol level was 0.08, which is the state standard. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.
- Home break-ins were reported over the weekend at Cedarwood Lane, Morgan Hill Court and Old Fayetteville Road.
- Carrboro police responded to a call Friday regarding an "injured rat" on the sidewalk of East Main Street. According to a police report, the rat died "on arrival," and an officer disposed of the animal carcass.
- A Carrboro woman notified police Friday that two dogs were locked in a car on North Greensboro Street. Police arrived and noted all four windows were open four to six inches and the car was parked in the shade. "The dogs did not appear to be in distress," police concluded.
- A Carrboro man's driveway was the site of three births and a death over the weekend -- of opossums. After a pregnant opossum birthed three babies, which were taken by Emergency Animal Rescue Services, she died in the driveway and was removed by Carrboro police.
CHAPEL HILL
- Jesse Lawton Fellows, 30, of 107 W. Main St. H, was arrested Saturday morning on West Rosemary Street and charged with driving while impaired and failing to carry a driver's license. According to police reports, Fellows drove off the left side of the street and into a fire hydrant. The reports said he admitted to marijuana use during questioning and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.24. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.
- Matthew Jarvis Chandler, 23, of 113 Conner Drive, 204, was arrested Saturday morning on Homestead Road and charged with driving while impaired and felonious restraint. According to a police report, Chandler was armed with "personal weapons" and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.11. He was held in Orange County Jail in lieu of $4,000 bail.
- Chapel Hill police received a report early Saturday morning that a man had been assaulted on West Franklin Street. According to a police report, the man was struck in the face by a group of teenagers. No arrests were made.
- West Franklin Street was hit by a rash of vandalism Saturday night as spray-painted graffiti was found on a wall at the Franklin Hotel, a window was shattered at Time After Time Thrift Shop and an automobile window was broken on North Roberson Street.
- A Carrboro man reported to police that he was punched in the nose and robbed at gunpoint Sunday morning near Umstead Park. The victim said someone took his cell phone and cash, then struck him before leaving.
- Jeremy Lamont Kelso, 23, of 100 Dickens Court, 11, was arrested Sunday morning and charged with two counts of simple assault and one count of assaulting a government official. According to a police report, Kelso got into a fight with two bouncers at East End Martini Bar on Franklin Street near 2 a.m. and also struck a police officer. Kelso was held in Orange County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail.
- David Saavedra Miro, 31, of 306 Estes Drive Extension, C13, was arrested Sunday morning on Martin Luther King Boulevard and charged with driving while impaired and failing to carry a driver's license. According to a police report, Miro's blood-alcohol level was 0.12. He was held in Orange County Jail in lieu of $250 bail.
- Jose Manuel Muria Ponce, 29, of 306 Estes Drive Extension, K8, was arrested Sunday morning at the intersection of U.S. 15-501 and Erwin Road. Ponce was charged with driving while impaired, carrying an open beverage and failing to carry a driver's license. According to a police report, Ponce's blood-alcohol level was 0.15. He was held in Orange County Jail in lieu of $500 bail.
- Joel Jackson Hardison, 32, of 1032 Oak Lane Court in Raleigh, was arrested Sunday afternoon on East Franklin Street and charged with driving while impaired. According to a police report, Hardison's blood-alcohol level was 0.13. He was released on a written promise to appear in court.
- A vehicle break-in was reported over the weekend on Longview Street.
