HILLSBOROUGH - Police charged a 20-year-old Hillsborough man with murder in connection with a fatal shooting Saturday morning.

Scorpio White, of 241 Harper St., was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Bernard Foust, 50, of 556 Cornelius St.

"He seems to be our shooter," Hillsborough Police Chief Clarence Birkhead said Saturday night.

But Foust may not have been the intended victim, the police chief said.

At 11:59 a.m. Saturday, Orange County dispatchers received a report that two people were shot at Foust's Hillsborough home. Birkhead says a second man, whose identity he declined to release, also was injured, and the shooting appears to have been a continuation of an argument that started Friday between White and that man.

The unidentified man was taken to Duke Hospital with minor injuries, Birkhead said.
