A memorial service for Craven L. Jones Jr. was conducted April 16 at the Francis Burns United Methodist Church by the Rev. Mack McClam. Jones died at his home in Columbia, S.C., on April 11 and was cremated.

He was born in Chapel Hill and graduated from Orange County Training School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired after a career with the U.S. Postal Service.

Survivors include his wife, Johnnie B. Jones, formerly of Chapel Hill; a son, Larry V. Jones of Columbia, S.C.; a daughter, Lisa Jones of Alameda, Calif.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
