He was a native of Chapel Hill, where he practiced dentistry for 44 years. He graduated from the UNC School of Dentistry.

A memorial service was conducted May 20 at University Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Robert Dunham. Burial followed in Lystra Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn C. Oldham; a son, Floy T. Oldham III of Houston, Texas; a daughter, Kirsten O. Shaw of Chapel Hill; and a sister, Geneverette Oldham of Durham.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
