Betty Moody Ballard of Chapel Hill died Saturday.

She was preceded in death by parents Geneva and Vilas Moody; sister Helen Pilley; and brother Jake Moody. She is survived by her husband, Joel Thomas Ballard; son Bruce Ballard (Megan), two daughters, Charlotte Stevens (Dale) and Janet Carden (Roger); two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Grey Moody (Cheryl) and Richard Moody (Susan).

The funeral service will be held today at noon at Damascus Church in Chapel Hill. The family will receive friends at the church at 11 a.m. A reception will follow the service in the fellowship hall.

The family would like to thank UNC Hospitals for its care and compassion for both Betty and her family. They extend a special thanks to Dr. Chung.
