Floyd M. Crouse III
Floyd M. Crouse III, 60, of Timberlake, N.C., passed away on March 22, 2009, at Duke University Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd M. Crouse II.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Hawk Toney; stepfather Daniel Toney; son Brett Crouse; daughters Natalie Crouse, Heather Sloop, Brittany Crouse and Rebecca Crouse; brothers Gary Crouse and Jan Toney; and sister Tyra Toney Mann.
A memorial service was held at the Cremation Society of the Carolinas on March 26, 2009.

In loving memory of Dr. William Lloyd Welter Jr., born Sept. 19, 1932, in Secane, Pa., son of the late William L. Welter Sr. and Georgia Cull Welter.
Dr. Welter passed away March 23, 2009, in Williamsburg, Va. He was a loving husband, father, brother and granddad.
Bill attended West Point Military Academy, graduating in 1955. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Army and earned his wings in Army Aviation School in 1956.
He graduated from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., earning a master's degree in aeronautical and aerospace engineering. He attended U.S. Navy Test Pilot School in Patuxent River NAS, Md., and received a doctorate in higher education administration from the College of William and Mary in 1975.
He was the former holder of the helicopter world record for time-to-climb to 9,000 meters.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sherry Lee Mitchell Welter; sister, Nancy Welter Akin of Toms River, N.J.; son, William L. Welter III of Tampa and Miami Beach, Fla.; daughters Melissa Welter Carpenter and Mary Elizabeth Welter of Richmond, Va., and Virginia Welter Gilliam of Chapel Hill.
A memorial service was held Friday, March 27, in the Bruton Parish Episcopal Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Bruton Parish Episcopal Church.
Betty Jean Degraffenried
Betty Jean Degraffenried was born Dec. 23, 1961, and went home to be with the Lord on March 25, 2009.
She is survived by her son, Chris Blacknell; seven sisters, Rosa, Ivy, Gloria, Helen, Julie, Charlene and Theresa; and one brother, Frank Degraffenried.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 30 at 2 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle Oasis of Love International Church in Chapel Hill. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 to 2 p.m., prior to the funeral.
