Mary Jane Bingham CrovitzMary Jane Bingham Crovitz, 77, of Fearrington Village, died Saturday at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
A native of Ironton, Ohio, she was daughter to the late Vincent Earl and Margaret Hailey Bingham. Mrs. Crovitz was an avid gardener who loved flowers and plants. She was a great cook and an awesome pianist. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jill.
Graveside service will be today at noon in Greenmount Cemetery, Wendell.
She is survived by her beloved husband of many years, Herbert Floyd Crovitz of the home; sons, Jonathan Burtnett of Anacortes, Wash., and Timothy Burtnett of Apex; daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie and Dale Dasen of Youngsville, and Amy and Larry Johnson of Wendell; brothers, James and John Bingham, several stepchildren and nine grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at the home.

Mary Lou Hoiss HendrickMary Lou Hoiss Hendrick of Wilmington, formerly of Chapel Hill, was reunited with her husband and son in heaven in unity with the Blessed Trinity on July 17, 2009.
She was born in Chicago, Ill., on Nov. 14, 1925, the daughter of the late Al and Mary Kilty Hoiss. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Stanley Hendrick, her son, Philip Stanley Hendrick, Jr., and her sister, Joannie Clark.
Mrs. Hendrick was a graduate of Mundelein College in Chicago, Ill. She was employed as a lifeguard in Chicago and worked with a group of women who performed choreographed water designs. She later was employed as a social worker in Chicago, and then Marshal Fields. Following World War II, she married Phillip Stanley Hendrick.
Surviving are nine children, the Rev. Matthew D. Hendrick of Wilmington, Michael Hendrick and wife Ellen of Connecticut, Mary Duddy and husband Tom of Hawaii, Margaret Cole and husband Richard of Jacksonville, Katie Hendrick and husband Rick Hoffman of Oregon, Mark Hendrick and wife Lisa of Greensboro, Martha Armstrong and husband Rob of Asheville, Liz Law of Atlanta, Ga., and John Hendrick and wife Rieppe of Cary; 22 grandchildren; one great grandson; and two brothers, Tom Hoiss of Chicago, Ill., and David Hoiss of Miami, Fla.
Her legacy is a family of love and service to her God and community.
A wake will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25, in St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Chapel Hill, by The Most Reverend Bishop Michael Burbidge.

Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Markham Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Durham.
Family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.
She is survived by three daughters, Margaret B. Foster, Gina B. Jennings and Lewella Riggsbee; three sons, Nathaniel Brown, Christifus Brown and Alexander Brown.

Winfred Leroy MannSurrounded by his family at his home, Winfred Leroy Mann, 79, peacefully went to be with the Lord on July 17, 2009.
The son of Edna Mann and the late Seaton Mann, Winfred was born on Oct. 23, 1929 in Chatham County.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Foy R. Mann; and children, Bertha M. Smith and husband Arthur, David W. Mann and wife Donna, Patricia L. Mann, Amy M. Meacham and husband Wayne, and Donald L. Mann and wife Tammy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Chad Smith, David Smith and wife Wynsor, Deanna Watts and husband Garry, Logan and Simone Baker, and Rachel Watts; Amanda, Brittany, Cody, and Dylan Mann, Emily and Alex Youngman. In addition Winfred and his wife Foy have "adopted" many others over the years.
Winfred enjoyed a 43 year career at Chatham Mills, retiring in 1992. He was an active and loyal member of Hanks Chapel United Church of Christ in Pittsboro, having served as a trustee and a member of various church committees
The funeral service was conducted Tuesday at Hanks Chapel United Church of Christ with the Rev. Bob Wachs and Rev. Ray Gooch officiating, with interment following in the church cemetery.

Herbert SearleHerbert Ronald Searle, 87, formerly of Madison, Wisc., died July 10 at home after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; sons Ron (Maradeth) and Scott; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
