David Evan BowmanDavid Evan Bowman, 56, of Pittsboro, died July 22, 2009, at WakeMed in Cary.
Born April 28, 1953, in Los Angeles, Calif., he was the son of Paul Lee Bowman and Frances Ann Watts Bowman. Mr. Bowman was a computer programmer with UNC-Chapel Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Christina S. Bowman; son and daughter-in-law, Aaron David Bowman and Shannon Ellis Bowman of Greensboro; brothers, James Bowman and wife Denise, of St. Joseph, Mich., Jeffrey Bowman of Grand Rapids, Mich.; sisters, Cynthia B. Foley and husband Kerry, of South Bend, Ind., Sheila Conklin and husband Myron Sr. of New Buffalo, Mich.; six nieces and nephews; and five great-nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service was conducted by the Rev. Bob Boyd Saturday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, Griffin Chapel, in Pittsboro.

Jeanmarie Farrell DevinneyJeanmarie Farrell Devinney died peacefully at home with her loving family by her side after a courageous battle with appendicile cancer on July 18, 2009.
Jeanmarie was born February 6, 1968, and spent her childhood years in Charleston W.Va., Jacksonville, Fla., and Raleigh. She graduated from Millbrook High School and Louisburg Jr. College. In 2003 Jeanmarie married Tim and moved to Pittsboro.
Jeanmarie is survived by her devoted husband, Tim; sons, Tyler and Brennan Deans; mother, Joan Farrell of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother, Tom, of Jacksonville, Fla.; and loving in-laws, Charles (Chuck) and Sue Devinney of Pittsboro.
She was predeceased by her father, Thomas J. Farrell, in 2006.
A memorial service was held Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Pittsboro Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Tripp Harmon, the Rev. Bob Wachs and the Rev. Phillip Tighe presiding. A memorial Mass at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Wake Forest will be held at a later date.

Robert Leslie TuckRobert (Bob) Leslie Tuck of Chapel Hill died at Hillcrest Convalescent Home on June 23, 2009. His passing was peaceful, with his wife of 64 years, Evelyn McNutt Tuck, at his side, holding his hand.
In addition to Evelyn, Bob is survived by his daughter, Deborah Tuck Staves of Chapel Hill; his son, James Anderson Tuck and his wife Diana Sams Tuck of Prosser, Wash., his son, Barrett Richard Tuck and his wife Kathleen Taylor Tuck of Durham; his grandchildren, William Staves, Robert Tuck, Diana Tuck, Alyssa Tuck; and his great-grandchildren, Logan Tuck and William Staves.
Bob was born May 17, 1922, to the Rev. and Mrs. Leslie Tuck in Portland, Maine, and grew up in Colorado, Illinois and Wisconsin. After serving in the Army in World War II, he earned two master's degrees from Columbia University before moving to the Washington, D.C., area to work for the federal government. A specialist in Soviet affairs, Bob later became the policy advisor and then program director of Radio Liberty, which broadcast to the USSR in 17 languages. He spent most of his 20-year career at Radio Liberty in Munich, Germany, and also was located for several years in New York City.
In 1982, Bob and Evelyn began an early and active retirement in Chapel Hill, where he enjoyed playing tennis and traveling and became involved in numerous organizations including Common Cause, Habitat for Humanity, the Senior Center, VITA, Kiwanis (Golden K), N.C. Health Access Coalition, and the Coalition for the Public Trust. He was a passionate advocate for health reform. He also wrote his memoirs, which are in the Southern Historical Collection in the Wilson Library at UNC.
Bob will be remembered for his contributions as a husband, father and citizen, and above all as a good and caring person. At his request, no services are planned.
Edwina Powell PetersonEdwina Powell Peterson, 41, of Clinton, died at her home on Tuesday, July 21, 2009.
Funeral services were held Friday at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Sheppard officiating. Burial was to follow in the Clinton Cemetery.
Born in 1968 in Mecklenburg County, Mrs. Peterson was a member of Gray United Methodist Church in Gray, Tenn. She was the manager of Shoe Show in Fayetteville.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Peterson; daughter, Victoria Clark of Clinton; son, Allen Peterson of Fayetteville; father and mother, Kenneth and Diana Robinson of Chapel Hill; and brother, Brad Williams of Chapel Hill.
