Mr. Tripp was born May 15, 1954, the son of John Henry and Nellie (Dennis) Tripp. He was a native of Chatham County, a member of Merritts Chapel United Methodist Church and a carpenter by trade. Robert enjoyed riding motorcycles and being a friend and neighbor to all in his community. His greatest love was his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife: Donna (Poe) Tripp of the home; son, Robert Wayne Tripp Jr. and his wife Debbie and two grandsons of Pittsboro; father, John Henry Tripp and wife Jane of Siler City; mother, Nellie D. Tripp of Chapel Hill; brother, John Henry Tripp Jr. and wife Terri of Chapel Hill; and sister, Diane T. Lassiter and husband Dickie of Chapel Hill.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
