Lillian Marie Renstrom Burk of Chapel Hill died April 5 at at Chapel Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was 94.

She was born in Westport, Conn. On July 1, 1931, she married her childhood sweetheart Oliver George Burk in Pawling, N.Y., and they settled and raised a family in Norwalk, Conn. She assisted her husband in his side business of raising and selling garden plants. She first served as a special cook in a small family-owned diner in Norwalk. In the early 1950s, she began working in the Norwalk school system and subsequently became the manager of the Ponus Ridge Junior High School cafeteria. She retired in 1979 and removed to Chapel Hill in 1983.

A graveside service is planned at Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Gail Burk Smith of Wallingford, Conn.; two sons, Charles Brian Burk of Canton, Conn., and William Robert Burk of Chapel Hill; a sister, Jacqueline Renstrom Stevens of Green Valley, Ariz.; a brother, John E. Renstrom of Prairie Village, Kan.; and three grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice Foundation, 5301 Morganton Road, Fayetteville, N.C. 28314; or the Salvation Army, Southern Territory Headquarters, 1424 Northeast Expressway, Atlanta, Ga. 30329.
