Chrystine H. Culbreth of Chapel Hill died April 19 at Carol Woods Retirement Community.

She was born in Kinston and graduated from Louisburg Junior College and received a bachelor's degree from Scarritt College in Nashville, Tenn.

She was a charter member and former president of the Oakview Garden Club, which presented her with a North Carolina life membership. She was a national accredited flower show judge and a member of the Chapel Hill Garden Club and the Chapel Hill Preservation Society. She was married to Grey Culbreth and lived in Chapel Hill from 1937 until the time of her death.

A celebration of her life was conducted Monday, April 21, in the Carol Woods Assembly Hall.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan C. Blackburn of Dataw Island, S.C.; a son, Michael L. Culbreth of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Library of Grey Culbreth Middle School in Chapel Hill.
