Percy Creighton "Rod" Rodwell Jr. of Chapel Hill died April 18 at Britthaven of Chapel Hill. He was 87.

A funeral was held April 20 at the Church of the Holy Family in Chapel Hill.

He was born in Orangeburg, S.C., and graduated from Wake Forest University. He graduated from the Emory University School of Dentistry and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He practiced dentistry in Orangeburg until 1985. He was a life-long Rotarian and musician. He retired to Edisto Island, S.C., and in 1998 moved to Chapel Hill.

Survivors include a son, David C. Rodwell of Winston-Salem; a daughter, Carol R. Verner of Chapel Hill; two sisters, Virginia Warren of Concord, N.C., and Sue Williams of Davis, Calif.; and two grandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
