Leslie Ann FrazierLeslie Ann Frazier, 54, passed peacefully from this life in her sleep at her home near Chapel Hill on May 28.Leslie was born in Austin, Texas, on April 26, 1955, to Bill and Jerry Wright. The family moved to Abilene, Texas, and Leslie attended Abilene Christian Schools, graduating from Abilene Christian High School in 1973. She attended Abilene Christian University. She was baptized into Christ at a young age at a church camp near Brownwood, Texas. She was a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ.She married Stephen Curtis Merritt in Abilene on May 6, 1977. They had two sons, Sean Michael Merritt and Curtis James Merritt. Stephen passed away Dec. 28, 1994. Leslie married Bobby Joe Frazier at Chapel Hill on May 14, 1999.Leslie obtained her nursing license from Alamance County Community College in 1994. She was a dedicated nurse to many home health care patients. Leslie worked for the University of North Carolina Hospital Home Health Agency as a senior nurse. She loved being a nurse, and was a very compassionate one.Survivors include her husband, Bobby Joe Frazier; sons, 1st Lt. Sean Merritt of the U.S. Navy and his wife Shanna and son Bradley Michael of Oak Harbor, Wash., and Curtis Merritt and his wife Amanda and daughter Kaybree Jane of Keller, Texas; parents, Bill and Jerry Wright of Abilene; brothers, Alan Wright and daughter Whitney of Abilene, Gary Wright and wife Leah and children Chase and Courtney Ubernosky and Cassie and Caylen Wright of Joshua, Texas, and Chad Wright and wife Lauren and daughters Ashleigh, Bridgette and Cailee of Seagraves, Texas.Visitation was held Monday at the Hillcrest Church of Christ chapel in Abilene. The funeral service was Tuesday at the Hillcrest Church of Christ auditorium in Abileene, with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Smith & Buckner Funeral Home assisted the family with local arrangements.Joan SickmondJoan Sickmond, 76, died May 28 in her home at Carolina Meadows, surrounded by her family.Survivors include her husband, Guy; children Deborah Bertin of New York, Calisto Bertin and wife Lisa of New Jersey, and Celeste Yeates and husband Jim of Connecticut; stepchildren Paul Sickmond and wife Jackie of Florida, Dawn Hale and husband Mark of Florida; sisters Joy Bloomer of New York and Wanda Finke of North Carolina; and 11 grandchildren.A memorial service will be held June 14 at 3 p.m. at the University Presbyterian Church, 209 E.
