Hispanic Tennis Carnival

DOCTA and the Carrboro Recreation and Parks will co-host the annual Hispanic Tennis Carnival on Sunday , at Wilson Park, 4-6 p.m. Free racquets go to the first 30 kids (ages 5-18) who are registered. The festival will feature a variety of tennis games, prizes, Latino music and a short exhibition by Gonzo Arriagada of the Chapel Hill Tennis Club. For more information, see www.docta.org.

Fall 'World Series'

UNC's baseball team will conclude its fall practices with a 'World Series,' pitting two teams of Carolina players against each other on 'Blue' and 'White' squads. They will play two 3-game series, with a seventh game and deciding game being played only if the two squads each win one 2-of-3 series. Play begins Oct. 12 with the first pitch at 6 p.m., followed by games at 2 p.m. Tuesday and 6 p.m. Wednesday. The second series begins Friday and continues Saturday and (if necessary) Sunday. All games will be at Boshamer Stadium.
