Late Night With Roy

UNC Basketball: This evening of skits, commentary and athletic displays by the Carolina men's basketball team offers a traditional, if unofficial, tip-off to the season. And it's wildly popular, not only with Tar Heels but with potential recruits. ESPN's Stuart Scott once again will host emcee the festivities. Admission is free with general admission seating. Starts Thursday evening at the Smith Center at approximately 7 p.m. (after the UNC-Clemson volleyball game, which starts at 5 p.m.) Doors at the Smith Center will open at 4 p.m.

Horseshoes: The final horseshoe tournament of Carrboro's four- tournament series, the Fall Classic will be held on Saturday morning, with on-site registration 8:30-9:30 a.m. and play starting at 10 a.m. at Anderson Community Park off Hwy. 54 South.

Pumpkin Run

The beloved Pumpkin Run 4K trail race and fun run will be held on the afternoon of Saturday. The Pumpkin Run is a 4K race through a remote and scenic trail near Horace Williams Airport in Chapel Hill. Registration is open now www.pumpkin.runningland.com.

Triangle Tip-Off

Luncheon: All four NCAA Div.I men's basketball coaches in the Triangle (Duke's Mike Krzyzewski of Duke, Sydney Lowe of N.C. State, NCCU's LeVelle Moton and Roy Williams of defending NCAA champion North Carolina) will appear at the event, starting at 11:30 a.m. at the Sheraton Imperial in the RTP. Proceeds will go to benefit the coaches' favorite charities. Tables may be purchased by calling 919-678-1651 or online at . www.trianglesportscommission.com. Individual seats are $60 and tables of 10 are $550.
