NOVEMBER 4

ACC Soccer

The ACC Women's Championship will be decided again in Cary, featuring defending NCAA champion North Carolina and five teams currently ranked among the nation's Top 10. The tournament opens at WakeMed Soccer Park with four quarterfinal games on Wednesday. The semifinals are set for Friday evening, Nov. 6, and the title game will be Sunday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m.

NOVEMBER 5

Women's Basketball vs. Francis Marion (exhibition) 7 p.m. Men's Tennis hosts ITA Individual Indoor, All Day.

Men's Basketball: UNC's junior varsity hosts Methodist and 4 p.m., and the UNC varsity opens its regular season with a home game against Florida Inter-national, coached by Isaiah Thomas, in a matchup that FIU originally tried to discourage, 7 p.m.

Golf Challenge

The Governor Club's third annual match-play event, featuring alums of all the Big 10 and ACC schools, will be held Nov. 12 on the GCGC course, a Jack Nicklaus 27-hole beauty that winds through the wooded hills of North Chatham. Even non-golfers enjoy the spectacular view overlooking the Coastal Plain from Edwards Mountain.

Go Fish

Carrboro Recreation will host a free fishing clinic for kids 15 and under from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Anderson Park. Kids can bring their own pole or borrow one from the rec department.

Eve Carson 5K

The Eve Carson Memorial 5K road race is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 21, starting at 10 a.m. (registration opens at 8 a.m.) in front of South Building on UNC's campus. The event celebrates the leadership of former UNC Student Body President of Eve Carson, who was killed in 2008. For more, see www.educationforeve.com.
