CHAPEL HILL SOCCER -- Monday & Wednesday, Oct. 6 & 8, at CHHS. Chapel Hill High School's soccer team, ranked No. 12 in the N.C. Coaches' 4-A poll and No. 7 in The News Observer's Triangle rankings, plays twice this week, entering the home stretch of the PAC-6 Conference. The Tigers host Northern Durham on Monday and then No.3-ranked Broughton (No. 1 in the Triangle) in a non-conference match on Wednesday. Both games are scheduled to start at 6:45 p.m. CHHS has won three straight games by a combined score of 13-2.

RUNNING -- DUKE DPT 5K: The Duke Doctor of Physical Therapy Class of 2010 is sponsoring the Fourth Annual DPT 5K on the campus of Duke University. The race date is Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. The race benefits Easter Seals, UCP of North Carolina, which provides direct physical therapy services for children and adults with disabilities, in addition to raising physical therapy awareness and promoting fitness in the community. The event will include a certified USATF 5K run/walk, a Kid's Fun Run and post-festivities, including raffles and door prizes, as well as free therapeutic massages. RUNNING -- Pumpkin Trail 4K: Halloween comes early this year with the beloved 4K trail run that rolls through the Carolina North property just north of Horace Williams Airport. Registration and further information is available at the Pumpkin Run Web site: pumpkin.runningland.com.

CYCLING -- Habitat Halloween 100: The fifth annual "spook-tacular" Halloween 100 benefits Habitat for Humanity of Durham. The routes of 100, 62, or 31 miles are fully supported and start/finish at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park in downtown Durham. Prizes include "best costume."
