Oft-injured Charlotte Bobcats forward Sean May has been cleared to get back on the basketball court after missing eight months following micro-fracture surgery on his right knee. The third-year post player expects to be ready to go full speed when training camp starts in October.

May, who put the 2005 Tar Heel squad on his burly shoulders en route to a national title, has been taking summer school classes in Chapel Hill and working out with UNC strength and conditioning coach Jonas Sahratian, who is responsible for Bobby Frasor's rehabilitation (see above).

May only played 23 games his rookie season due to injury, and showed promise in his second year by earning 12 points and 7 rebounds per game, but his season was again cut short at 35 games. He then missed the entire 2007-08 season, meaning since the Bobcats drafted him 13th overall in 2005 he has played in less than a quarter of the team's games.

May plans to attend Bobcats practices in Las Vegas next week but will sit out Charlotte's summer-league games.

Noel to Celtics?

Former North Carolina fan favorite and Durham native David Noel was one of 16 players at the Boston Celtics' free agent camp, which did not include any of the stars from the team's recent NBA title run. Just two of the 16 -- Glen "Big Baby" Davis and Gabe Pruitt -- are under contract, with the remaining bunch hopeful to ink deals with the champions.

Also at the camp is former Clemson forward James Mays.
