Family Violence & Rape Crises Services of Chatham County and ChathamArts will join forces to celebrate their accomplishments with a fundraising art auction Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Fearrington Barn.The event will showcase local arts and products from throughout the region. It will include culinary arts, live music, a poetry contest and both a silent and live auction. The art auction and silent preview will begin at 2 p.m.; the live auction will start at 3:30 p.m.Among the artists who will have work up for auction are Vidabeth Bensen (printing), Joyce Bryan (pottery), Shannon Bueker (painting), Forrest Greenslade (sculpture), Mark Hewitt (pottery), Joey Howell (painting), Julia Kennedy (painting), Katherine Ladd (painting), Tamera Mulanex (sculpture), Carol Owen(painting), Joan Sommers (painting), Rita Spina (multi media) Melody Troncale (pottery) and Monnda Welch (jewelry).The winners of the Empowering and Transforming Poetry Contest will be announced, and winning poems will be read at the event on Sunday, either by the poets or by designated presenters.The contest invited submissions of poetry dealing with empowerment, transformation and growth that has brought positive change. Admission to the auction is $20. Tickets are available at Second Bloom and Chatham Arts, Hillsboro St., Pittsboro; Blue Birds & Hollyhocks, Fearrington Village; and The Blue House (FVRC headquarters), Pittsboro.
