The Ackland Art Museum and the North Carolina Botanical Garden will present a family celebration of the Summer Solstice at the Forest Theatre on the UNC campus on Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Storyteller Faye Stanley will perform in an event presented in conjunction with the Ackland’s major summer exhibition, “In and Around the Garden: Perspectives East and West.” The event will celebrate the longest day of the year with songs and stories from around the world.
Stanley is a well-known performer and edducator who presents a wide array of multicultural games, stories, and songs. She is especially skilled at making connections across cultural boundaries.
She holds degrees in music therapy, music education and education, and she designs and leads professional development sessions on arts integration
The Family Celebration of the Summer Solstice will begin at 7 p.m., rain or shine. Admission is free. Festive dress and costumes to honor the sun and the garden are encouraged for both children and their parents.
The Forest Theatre‘s entrance is on Country Club Road near the corner of S. Boundary Street.
