Fiddler A.C. Bushnell and the HappyJoy Band will play a concert Saturday night at The ArtsCenter to celebrate the release of Bushnell's new album, 'Moon in the Trees.' The disc is Bushnell's second solo album, coming on the heels of 2007's 'Dancing on the Water.' Both records are a response, in a way, to Bushnell's experience battling the liver cancer he was diagnosed with in 2005. Doctors were able to remove the tumor, and Bushnell made a full recovery -- but the close call changed his life. Although he had played music ever since he was a teenager in the early 1960s, when he was a fledgling member of New York City's thriving folkie scene, he had never recorded a solo album. Given a reprieve, he determined that he would wait no longer. He wrote some original tunes, gathered some of the area's best musicians and in 2007 released 'Dancing on the Water.' Now he's done it again. Showtime Saturday at The ArtsCenter, 300-G E. Main St., Carrboro, is 8:30 p.m. Admission is $15, $13 for ArtsCenter Friends. 929-2787, www.artscenterlive.org.
